Kappa League Houston…..Where ACHIEVEMENT Begins!
On November 12th, the City Wide Kappa Leaguers attended Young Professionals’ University (YPU), sponsored by the Houston Area Urban League Young Professionals (HAULYP). This semester’s theme was Fall in to Your Future! The day began with breakfast and a motivational speech. The mission of YPU is to ensure that all of our children are empowered through education to prepare them for economic self-reliance in the 21st century by leveraging the experiences of HAULYP members and factual data. YPU aims to offer enrichment programs, through a two-part series (Fall and Spring). YPU Fall 2011 focused on engaging students in four key areas: life after high school and college readiness, college admissions and application requirements, securing financial assistance, as well as the added value of the college fair and career panel workshop.
